The first thing you need to know about Aldrich Potgieter — the 20-year-old South African who has taken the PGA Tour by storm this year — is how to properly pronounce his surname.
“Pot” rhymes with spot. A hard G in “gee.” And “ter” as in tournament ready for this week at TPC Southwind.
Potgieter is the lone rookie in the field for this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first event in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. He finished his debut season ranked 43rd in the Cup standings and even got to celebrate a victory in 2025; he won the Rocket Classic in Michigan in June, taking home close to $2 million for his efforts.
