One last walk down memory lane before Carrefour is demolished

By , Daily Memphian Updated: August 29, 2025 4:00 AM CT | Published: August 29, 2025 4:00 AM CT

A Germantown building that once held a bookstore, offices and an arcade is left with scattered shards of glass and crooked and bent blinds alongside a ragged carpet as demolition is set to commence.

The long-planned razing of Carrefour at Kirby Woods will begin next Tuesday as the former retail and office center transitions to a revamped concept and a new name.

Demolition is expected to take about 60 days, said Adam Slovis, principal partner with Slovis and Associates. He is part of CRE Devco, the team that purchased the shopping center in 2022.
