Lakeland Commissioner Michele Dial intends to run for the District 3 seat on the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, an office held by Mick Wright.

Wright is term-limited and cannot seek reelection to the district that covers Lakeland and Bartlett. Dial will run in the Republican primary scheduled for May 5, 2026. The party’s primary winners will then square off in the county general election in August.

The first day to pick up qualifying petitions is Dec. 22 with a deadline of Feb. 19. Early voting will run April 15-30.
