Hardware-store supplier opens Collierville showroom larger than Wrigley Field
Inside the new building, Orgill has examples of different kinds of stores with shelves of supplies. It looks like the inside of a hardware-supply store but focused on dealers and distributors. One area of the showroom somewhat resembled Germantown Hardware, one of Orgill’s stores. (Mark Weber/The Daily Memphian)
Hardware-store supplier Orgill’s massive new building on Bailey Station Road in Collierville began hosting hundreds of dealers Tuesday, Oct. 14, a day after the company celebrated the facility’s opening.
The Innovation Center is 553,000 square feet — larger than Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, or the Sydney Opera House in Australia. The space is large enough to fit 10 Notre Dame Cathedrals.
The $70 million space is meant to help hardware stores, home centers and farm-distribution stores find solutions that best fit their customers. Those who work in the stores know their customers needs. Orgill recognizes there is no one-size-fits-all model for the thousands of stores with which it works. They want to collaborate.
