It’s hard to find Indian food in Bartlett. But that’s about to change.

The Taste of Paradise Indian Buffet & Grill in Bartlett should serve its first tandoori chicken and warm naan by the end of this month.

The Bangladeshi owner behind the new restaurant at 6220 Stage Road is part of the group that opened the Al-Aqsa International Market in the same strip center last month. They own the entire Raina Plaza commercial center — formerly known as Bartlett Hills Shopping Center — near Stage and Elmore Park roads.

Co-owner Mohammad Miah owned an Indian restaurant in New York City that he sold in 2010. He moved to Memphis because it was more affordable, opening some gas stations and vape shops in the process.

That led him and his ownership group to consider Bartlett, which a growing community of Bangladeshis call home.
