Vote for the high school girls basketball player of the week, Week 2

By , Daily Memphian Published: December 08, 2025 11:01 AM CT

Once again this season, The Daily Memphian will be spotlighting a high school boys basketball player of the week.

And we still need your help.

Each Monday, we’ll list candidates from the previous weeks games and fans can vote on their pick for the week’s top player. Thanks to our partnership with OrthoSouth, player of the week stories will now be free to access, with no payment or subscription required to vote for the Fans’ Choice Player of the Week.

Voting ends at 5 p.m. each Thursday.

Our staff will also choose a player of the week — the OrthoSouth Grizzlies Player of the Week.

Some weeks we may agree; some we may not. But we still want the fans to make their voices heard.

Here are the candidates for Week 2, which includes games played through Dec. 6.

Ava Jones, Hutchison: The Sting graduated some talented players from last year’s team that ended up one game short of the state tournament. But Hutchison still has Jones, who scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead her team to a 68-40 victory over Jackson Christian at the DynaMix Hoopfest in Jackson, Tennessee.

Brynne Miller, Harding: Miller tallied 18 points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals to lead the Lions to a 49-40 win over St. Agnes on Dec. 2. She then chipped in with 8 points and nine steals on Dec. 5 as the Lions improved to 6-0 for the first time since the 2019-2020 season with a 40-38 victory over Arlington.

Sa’Nya Moore, Westwood: Moore — a junior — had a tremendous all-around game against Kingsbury on Dec. 5, finishing with 25 points, nine rebounds and four assists to spark the Longhorns to a 50-20 victory.

Ja’Niyah Todd, Central: The Warriors are unbeaten in their first four games thanks in large part to the efforts of Todd. The junior scored 17 points in a 67-59 victory over Kirby on Dec. 2 and followed up with 15 three days later in a hard-fought 37-35 victory over Millington.

Addie Turner, Munford: Turner delivered a strong performance on both ends of the floor against Bluff City on Dec. 2. She finished with 19 points, three rebounds, two assists and 10 stocks (eight steals, two blocks) as the Cougars rolled, 68-22.
