Tune in to the Destination: Delicious podcast to hear Andrew Woods of Joe’s Wines & Liquors talk with me about Negroni Hunt 2019.
Five bars around town will be pouring up their version of the classic Italian cocktail, and you can expect riffs in this no-rules competition. As Woods explained, it’s up to the bartender to decide if his or her drink stays true to the spirit of the Negroni.
It seems the drink was created in Florence in 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked a bartender to make a strong Americano, substituting gin for soda water. It took off, and the drink of equal parts gin, Campari and red vermouth has honored his name for a century.
