From worry to relief: Stanton neighbors welcome Ford’s gas truck pivot — and the promise it brings

Ford Motor Co.’s decision to pivot from electric vehicles to gas-powered trucks at its $5.6 billion BlueOval City campus didn’t surprise anybody in Stanton or Haywood County.
“Everybody saw that coming,” said Stanton Mayor Norman Bauer. “We all know that the EV market is not what it’s supposed to be, so yeah, nobody was surprised.”
On Monday, Dec. 15, Ford announced plans to build “affordable” gas-powered pickup trucks instead of the electric Model T3 pickup at BlueOval City, renaming the Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center to the Tennessee Truck Plant.
