Lakeland Prep readies for first robotics competition

Lakeland Preparatory School will host its first-ever robotics competition Saturday with several teams hoping to earn bids to the state finals.
The VEX IQ Robotics regional qualifier will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at the school from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with some winning teams advancing to the Tennessee State Championship in Hendersonville on Feb. 27 and 28.
Students design and build a robot with the VEX IQ system to play with other teams in a game-based engineering challenge develops technical skills as well as teamwork, leadership and communication.
