Once again this season, The Daily Memphian will be spotlighting a high school boys basketball Player of the Week.

And we still need your help.

Each Monday, we’ll list candidates from the previous weeks games and fans can vote on their pick for the week’s top player. Thanks to our partnership with OrthoSouth, player of the week stories will now be free to access, with no payment or subscription required to vote for the Fans’ Choice Player of the Week.

Winter weather timeout: Catch up on Memphis’ fans choice and OrthoSouth players of the week

Voting ends at 5 p.m. each Thursday.

Our staff will also choose a Player of the Week — the OrthoSouth Grizzlies Player of the Week.

Some weeks we may agree; some we may not. But we still want the fans to make their voices heard.

Here are the candidates for this week, which includes games played through Feb. 7.

Justin Frison, Houston: The Mustangs’ standout junior burnished his Mr. Basketball resume’ with another fine outing in a big victory over rival Collierville. Frison finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and six assists on Feb. 7 as Houston routed the Dragons, 81-35.

Kamryn Green, St. George’s: Gryphons coach Dee Wilkes told his players they would beat Harding on Feb. 2 if they did two things — make free throws and rebound. Green took the latter especially to heart; the 6-foot-7 junior pulled down 20 boards while scoring 19 points and blocking two shots in his team’s 64-54 win.

Jacob Hill, MUS: It was a happy Homecoming for the Owls on Feb. 6 as they downed St. Benedict, 62-26. Hill led the way, hitting 4-of-5 3-pointers and finishing with a game-high 14 points as MUS improved to 13-6.

Fred Martin, Harding: Following their loss to St. George’s on Feb. 2, Harding bounced back the next day with an impressive victory over FACS. Martin led the way, scoring 26 points on 7-of-10 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds and handing out six assists in an 82-46 win.
