Exclusive: Inside Lucy Elementary’s transformation as Millington prepares for next year

The handoff of Lucy Elementary from the Memphis-Shelby County Schools to the Millington Municipal School District is occurring a year early as the municipal system prepares to take over the campus for the August 2027 school year.

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, Superintendent Bo Griffin provided a tour of the historic school building, talking about its future under the suburban district and improvements he foresees before students begin classes on the North Shelby County campus in a year.
