More than a quarter-century of coaching high school football has taught Major Wright many things. But one has served him particularly well.

Cautious optimism is a good default setting heading into a new campaign.

“There have been teams that I’ve been worried about that ended up doing well,” Wright said. “And there are teams that I’ve been excited about that don’t do well.”
