After decades in fire service, Selberg says retirement came as a shock

Retired Fire Chief John Selberg will get a year’s pay as part of his agreement to retire from the town, according to documents associated with his departure.
He will receive 12 months of severance payments totaling about $165,600. The agreement says the town will pay it on the same timeline as town employees' payroll. He will retain town health insurance for a year, and the town will deduct it from his payments. He will also be paid for unused vacation and personal days in a separate lump sum — $21,538.29.
