Memphis’ annual PGA Tour stop serves as the first round of the playoffs and the top 125 eligible golfers will compete beginning Thursday. Heading the list is Scottie Scheffler, who is No. 1 in both in the Cup standings and in the world rankings.
Three Memphis newcomers will join veterans next month at TPC Southwind.
Executive Director Joe Tomek is still relatively new to Memphis, but he wants to showcase the city and St. Jude as some of golf’s biggest names head to town.
“LIV Golf exists to whitewash murder and human rights violations in Saudi Arabia. The FedEx St. Jude Championship raises money for St. Jude. Which side do you want to support? This really isn’t hard.”
The August event kicks off the FedEx Cup playoffs and will feature a bigger field, the return of the pro-am and a “good old-fashioned Memphis block party.”
