“We are surrounded by high-quality restaurants, so we didn’t want to enter the arena competing with them,” Hotel Pontotoc’s general manager said. “We had to find our own little niche with upscale bar bites.”
The Dame, located at 69 Pontotoc Ave., is part of the restoration of the century-old Downtown hotel. And across town, a Sonic Drive-In is being razed.
The renovated European-style boutique hotel has been through many iterations, including a bordello, a bar, a recording studio and a bathhouse.
The owners of The Dame, which will be located in a den-like space inside the renovated Hotel Pontotoc, say they plan to fill a niche for people looking for a nice glass of wine outside a high-end restaurant.
The 700 linear feet of string lights will be hung 22 feet in the air and stretch from the theater to the Downtown Mobility Center.
The boutique hotel at 69 E. Pontotoc Ave. will include 10 guest rooms, with a small lobby facing Pontotoc.
