The Grizzlies are not aiming to just build a team for this year's playoffs. They are aiming to build a playoff team for many years to come. And they gave Memphis fans another glimpse of it Tuesday night, as they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The second-term slate of 13 Jim Strickland administration directors and chiefs drew some resistance from several council members in committee sessions Tuesday at City Hall. The decision to delay the vote on the slate for two weeks saw some of the new council members on different sides of the question at their first council meeting.

The University of Memphis has released Ryan Silverfield's initial contract details. 

Gov. Bill Lee unveiled a new paid family leave policy for state employees Tuesday, a measure permitting up to 12 weeks of annual medical leave time for events such as child births and family illnesses. Lee admitted it will come with a cost.

The proposed Raleigh development is the first one since the new tax increment financing district was implemented last year. Developers hope to close on the 8.5-acre site early this year. 

Dorothy Gunther Pugh left her role as artistic director of the ballet company in May 2019 and will depart the CEO job in June. She founded the organization in 1986.

The Tigers have been bit with the flu bug ahead of Wichita State.
