With an incoming Target and Academy Sports, Millington has hit the retail ‘bullseye’

As Millington’s growth accelerates, major retailers are making plans to open their first locations in the north Shelby County suburb.

Last month, the city’s Planning Commission approved entitlements for nearly 200,000 square feet of retail, which will include a new Target and Academy Sports.

“Two (retailers) that we think are certain to spark even more investment,” Millington City Manager Frankie Dakin said. “We see this as really hitting the bullseye of a target that we set many years ago when we set out to be a retail hub for West Tennessee.”
