From working for NBA, NHL and WNBA teams to toiling at a NASCAR venue, Robert Miller knows the ropes when it comes to selling and operating pro sports.

Now he’s inside the ropes, running the FedEx St. Jude Championship as the new executive director of the PGA Tour’s FedExCup playoff event.

The tournament faces an uncertain future, as less than 10 days ago word broke that the FESJC not only will lose its playoff status but also that it won’t make the cut for the higher-echelon Championship Series that will highlight the PGA Tour’s new two-tier format.
