Campbell Clinic is looking to expand in the Collierville community, by opening a new building on Poplar.

After delays in state approval and construction of more than a year, Baptist Memorial Health Care will soon open its new emergency department in Arlington.

Methodist said some care providers voiced questions about patients receiving gender-affirming procedures at a facility affiliated with the hospital, prompting the pause to review practices. It did not say how long the pause would last.

“Part of our philosophy is trying to meet the patients where they are and provide better access points so that people can receive the care they need without having to drive an hour to get it.” 

Thursday’s observance included a World AIDS Day 2022 proclamation from Mayor Lee Harris and a balloon release to pay tribute to all who are living with HIV/AIDS and remember those who’ve died in the past year. 

The funding is part of the CDC’s $3.2 billion investment in local and state awards to strengthen public health infrastructure across the nation.

As the hospital’s six-year, multi-billion dollar expansion gets underway, 500 office employees have moved into 150 Peabody Place. And area shops and restaurants are mighty glad to see them.

“There were so many of my friends that didn’t have their fathers in their lives, at least not in the way they wanted them to be. He filled that role for so many people,” said Paul Young, president and CEO of the Downtown Memphis Commission.

The largest comprehensive behavioral health provider in Shelby County plans to break ground in March on the 55,000-square-foot crisis center.
