The City of Lakeland is finding ways to fund redevelopment of its Gateway Tax Increment Financing district just north of the Interstate 40 and Canada Road interchange.

During a special-called meeting Thursday, Aug. 22, the Lakeland Board of Commissioners approved a $6 million loan commitment letter with First South Financial for future development of the Gateway.

Before the special-called meeting, the Memphis suburb’s Industrial Development Board met for its regular monthly session and also approved the loan commitment.
