Lake District townhomes moving ahead

Development activity at The Lake District mixed-use project in Lakeland is expected to resume in the coming months after a bankruptcy setback stalled the work.
The Lakeland Municipal Planning and Design Review Commission on Thursday, Dec. 11, unanimously approved a new preliminary development plan for the townhome portion of The Lake District called The Willows at the Lake.
Several models were under construction before the the original developer Yehuda Netanel declared bankruptcy in 2023. The Lake District has suffered from a troublesome history where plans for the development on the old Belz Factory Outlet Mall site fell considerably short of reality.
