Collierville Chick-fil-A case reopened in Shelby County Chancery Court

The Collierville landowner of a proposed Chick-fil-A site on Poplar Avenue has sued all five aldermen who voted to appeal a Chancery Court decision allowing the restaurant, saying the elected officials are in contempt of court for challenging the chancellor’s ruling.
Collierville’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen denied a new Chick-fil-A — north of Poplar Avenue, west of Bray Station Road and east of Cartwright Farm Lane — less than a mile west of its existing location in early 2024. In February, Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins ordered Collierville to approve the plans for the site. However, in March, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted 5-1 to appeal that decision with Mayor Maureen Fraser casting the lone vote against the appeal. That was after delaying the decision in an earlier March meeting.
Now Bob Cartwright, the trustee for the proposed Chick-fil-A site, filed a petition for civil contempt against all five aldermen — Charles Hall, Jewel Jordan, Nick Robbins, Missy Marshall and John Stamps — alleging they are in contempt of court for not following Jenkins’ orders. It has reopened the matter in Shelby County Chancery Court.
