Runners will take off at airport’s first Runway 5K
The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority’s annual charity golf tournament has been declining through the years, so officials decided to try something new: the Runway 5K.
Hundreds of runners are preparing to take off on a runway next to planes at Memphis International Airport on Saturday, Sept. 20, for an early morning 3.1-mile race.
More than 850 participants ranging in age from 4 to 92 are expected for the inaugural Runway 5K.
