Coronavirus live blog, April 5: Tenn. reports 3,633 cases, up from 3,321

Tennessee coronavirus cases rise to 3,633
Tennessee confirmed an additional 312 coronavirus cases Sunday, April, 5, according to the latest figures from the state’s department of health.
The statewide total is now 3,633 cases and 44 deaths, an increase from the reported 3,321 coronavirus cases and 43 deaths, Saturday, April 4.
There have been 328 hospitalizations and 295 recoveries, according to the health department.
There have been 45,300 total tests taken statewide.
The positive test rate for coronavirus cases statewide is now 8%.
In Shelby County, the county health department reported 754 coronavirus cases with 11 deaths Sunday, April 5.
132 reported coronavirus cases in DeSoto County
There are 132 reported cases of COVID-19 in DeSoto County as of Sunday, April 5, according to the latest numbers from the Mississippi Department of Health.
It’s an increase of 14 from the 118 confirmed cases in DeSoto Saturday, April 4.
DeSoto County, which neighbors Shelby County, has had one death resulting from COVID-19.
Marshall County has 20 coronavirus cases and one death.
There are 1,638 confirmed coronavirus cases in Mississippi with 43 deaths.
The latest coronavirus cases, by the numbers
754 coronavirus cases in Shelby County, 11 deaths
There are 754 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Shelby County, according to the city of Memphis’ COVID-19 website.
Eleven of those cases have resulted in death. On Saturday, Shelby County reported 706 cases of coronavirus with 10 deaths.
In Shelby County, there have been 8,514 tests for coronavirus with 8.86% of those tests being positive.
Statewide there are 3,321 cases with 43 deaths as of Saturday, April 4, according to the latest figures from the city of Memphis.
There have been 41,391 tests statewide with an 8.02% positive rate.
