Shelby County Health Department reports 140 new cases

Shelby County Health Department reported 140 new cases of the novel coronavirus Sunday for a total of 28,207 since early March.
The new cases are from a reported 1,353 tests and the daily positivity rate is 10.3%.
The Health Department reported two new deaths for a total of 396. Currently 2,420 cases are considered active in Shelby County and an estimated 25,391 people have recovered.
In metro-area hospitals 90% of staffed beds are in use, but only 145 patients, or 7% have COVID-19. About 86% of intensive care units have patients, and 61 units are available. Of the patients in ICU, 23% have COVID-19.
The Tennessee Department of Health released its report at 2 p.m. Sunday, announcing 20,836 new tests have been conducted, with a positivity rate of 9.45%. A total of 2,326,868 tests have been administered in the state.
It reported 1,764 new cases for a total of 164,126. There have been 1.865 fatalities related to the virus statewide. A total of 819 people are currently hospitalized in Tennessee for COVID-related illnesses, which is a decline of 27 since Saturday.
