Positivity rate 8% after 1,522 tests administered

Shelby County Health Department reported 122 new cases of coronavirus Sunday for a total of 29,012 in the area since early March.

The number came from a reported 1,522 tests, which is a daily positivity rate slightly above 8%.

Additionally the hospital reported three new coronavirus-related deaths for a total of 418. Of the 29,012 cases, an estimated 27,188 have recovered.

The most recent hospital data is from Thursday at 5 p.m. The Health Department reported 90% capacity in acute care. About 118, 5% and were being treated for COVID-19 outside of intensive care units.

In ICU, there were 48 available beds and 89% were occupied. There are 69 patients who have COVID-19.

The Tennessee Department of Health reports its numbers at 2 p.m. daily. Saturday it reported 1,032 new cases for a total of 170,891 statewide. The state reports 2,064 coronavirus-related deaths. It also estimates 154,947 people have recovered.

Sunday the state reported 933 new cases for a total of 171,824. The total number of deaths is 2,078, an increase of 14 since Saturday.
