Shelby County reports 354 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths

The Shelby County Health Department reported 354 new COVID-19 cases and four virus-related deaths on Saturday, Nov. 14.
The 354 coronavirus cases came from 2,879 test results, yielding a 12.3% positivity rate. Test results, however, are not reflective of the previous 24-hour period and include tests over multiple days.
Overall, the Health Department has reported 41,747 coronavirus cases and 610 deaths, classifying 37,988 cases as inactive/recovered. Active cases in Shelby County stand at 3,149, an increase from the 3,105 reported Friday.
There were 376 COVID-19 patients in Memphis area hospitals as of 5 p.m. Thursday, according to Tennessee’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System. The Health Department will provide hospital information for Friday through Sunday in Monday’s daily update.
Of the 376 people hospitalized, 287 are in acute care beds, with 89 in intensive care unit beds.
Hospital capacity for acute care beds is at 89% use, and ICU beds are at 90% occupancy. Those who are COVID-positive or suspected of having the virus represent 14% of acute care patients and 25% of ICU patients.
Tennessee Department of Health reported 4,662 new cases Saturday, bringing the total to 305,120. There are 25 additional deaths, bringing the number of Tennesseans whose deaths were coronavirus-related to 3,877.
