The Shelby County Health Department reported 356 new coronavirus cases and 23 additional virus-related deaths Saturday, Feb. 6.

The 23 reported deaths range from Nov. 16, 2020 to Feb. 3, 2021, according to the Health Department.

The 356 additional COVID-19 cases resulted from 5,013 tests, yielding a 7.1% positivity rate.

Active cases in Shelby County stand at 3,330, a decline from the 3,378 reported Friday.

Since March, the Health Department has reported 84,479 total coronavirus cases and 1,371 deaths, classifying 79,778 cases as inactive/recovered.

A total of 970,289 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Shelby County, yielding a 10% positivity rate.

There were 304 COVID-19 patients in Memphis-area hospitals as of 5 p.m. Thursday, the latest data available, according to Tennessee’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System. The Health Department will provide weekend hospital data in its Monday update.

Hospital capacity for ICU beds is at 93% use, and acute care beds are at 90% occupancy. The number of area ICU beds available is 29 with 249 acute care beds open.

Bed capacity is calculated by subtracting beds occupied by patients, unstaffed beds and beds that are otherwise unavailable.

Of the 304 people hospitalized, 87 are in the intensive care unit beds, with 217 in acute care beds.

Those who are COVID-positive or suspected of having the virus represent 24% of ICU patients and 12% of acute care patients.
