The figures mean there have been 1,650 cases among students since the start of the school year and 246 among staff.

As more than a third of new COVID cases are among children, Lee says, “We’re doing what we believe is the best way forward.”

Tennessee as a whole is reporting 117 cases per 100,000 people, up 79% over 14 days, and the highest level in the nation.
