Halinka’s Polish food truck is tried and tested
“It’s not just some fluff. I truly, deeply believe in food uniting people, making people happy,” said Magda Dutkiewicz Vaughan, the cook behind Halinka's Polish Eatery. (Brad Vest/Sepcial to The Daily Memphian)
Magda Dutkiewicz Vaughan’s road to Halinka’s Polish Eatery was a long one, covering a corporate career, a cancer diagnosis and the food of her childhood. But now the truck is rolling all over the Memphis area.
Vaughan emigrated to Memphis from Lódz, Poland, by way of Wisconsin, with her parents when she was 9 years old. Even then, the young Memphian was already equipped with much of the culinary knowledge she would later use to launch the Halinka’s Polish Eatery food truck in 2025.
