When Edge District Jamaican restaurant Evelyn & Olive closed in 2023, after more than a decade in operation, many assumed the hiatus would be brief.
After all, the Madison Avenue restaurant had built up a loyal following with dishes such as Jamaican rice and peas, jamdown jerk chicken wings, Kingston stew fish and salt and pepper shrimp. And neither owner Wayne Lumsden nor his loyal customers expected the closure to be permanent.
