Cordova dumpling restaurant has roots in icy Northern China

Shuxia Guo sees a little bit of herself in Col. Harland Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
No, she doesn’t sell fried chicken. And no, she wasn’t born in the U.S., and she’s not a man. But she figured if her role model could open a business such as KFC later in life and be successful, so could she.
“Even without English, I was still willing to risk it,” Guo, 56, said through translator and family friend Carson Fu.
