Amid pandemic crisis, new bakery experiencing sweet success
Bakers Celia Ramirez (left) and Marek Bis work on trays of Whoopie Pies on April 17, 2020, at Ed Crenshaw's wholesale bakery on Summer Avenue. At the urging of his daughter Miller Cowan, Crenshaw, who has owned a commercial bakery for more than 20 years, launched an e-commerce branch called Sugar Avenue. The bakery shipped 80 cakes locally and around the country for Easter as the brand continues to grow in popularity through Instagram and a new website. (Jim Weber/Daily Memphian)
Sugar Avenue bakery had a name and a website, but it took a crisis and a desire to do something happy to bring it to fruition.
