Sugar Avenue, a local Memphis bakery that is delivery only, has joined Goldbelly, an online retailer that sells specialty food products from all over the country.

Other Memphis restaurants that are part of the Goldbelly platform include Pete & Sam’s, which sells its pizza, Central BBQ, Shotwell Candy, Muddy’s Bake Shop, Melissa Cookston’s Memphis BBQ and the Rendezvous.

The company features iconic restaurants such as Gino’s East, which sells it Chicago deep-dish pizza, Gambino’s Bakery king cakes from New Orleans, Woodford Reserve bourbon balls, meal kits from restaurants such as Commander’s Palace in New Orleans and Momofuku in New York and hundreds of other options.

In all, Goldbelly represents about 700 companies.

Sugar Avenue opened in April, in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking advantage of a commercial bakery owner Ed Crenshaw was already using. The upscale Sugar Avenue cakes are different from the products he was baking, and the company immediately launched as delivery only, even for local customers.

Some of the cakes are the Memphis bourbon caramel cake, coconut, chocolate, strawberry, lemon and a rice crispy cake.

“We are super excited about the opportunity to partner with Goldbelly,” Crenshaw said in a press release. “We think this is a great opportunity for our business to fulfill its mission, which has been to deliver the flavor of Memphis.”
