Daily Jigsaw: Welcome Ruhana
The Memphis Zoo announced the birth earlier this month of Ruhana (or Ru for short), an endangered orangutan.
Ruhana’s name was chosen to honor Ruhana Kuddus, the first female Indonesian journalist and a pioneering advocate for women’s rights. The name Ruhana means soul, spirit or essence of life in Sanskrit.
The delivery took place after months of preparation with the support of the Memphis Zoo’s animal care and veterinary teams.
