Health Department reports 7 new deaths, 113 new cases

Shelby County Health Department reported 113 new cases of the novel coronavirus in Shleby County for a total of 31,953 since early March.
The new cases come from a reported 2,620 tests, a daily positivity rate of about 5.6%.
The Health Department also reported an additional seven virus-related deaths in the last 24 hours. Shelby County reports a total of 485 deaths related to the virus.
The Health Department estimates a total of 30,185 people have recovered, and less than 1,300 of the nearly 32,000 cases since early March are active.
The most recent hospital data provided by the Health Department is from Thursday evening at 5 p.m. At that time 90% of staffed acute care beds were in use, and 107 patients had coronavirus.
In intensive care units, there are 53 vacant beds and 87% of metro-area ICU beds are occupied. About 56 people, 16%, of those in ICU are being treated for COVID-19.
The Tennessee Department of Health relases its update daily at 2 p.m. Saturday it reported 199,595 positive cases of COVID-19 statewide.
