Coronavirus: Fewer than 100 new cases reported

The Shelby County Health Department reported 84 new coronavirus cases and zero new coronavirus-related deaths on Tuesday.

Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 89,681 cases, including 87,090 inactive cases (recoveries), 1,052 active cases and 1,539 deaths.

According to the latest Shelby County Health Department data, 153,846 people in Shelby County have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose; 66,781 people have received both COVID-19 vaccine doses.


Mississippi opens vaccines to all


There were 161 COVID-positive patients in area hospital beds as of 5 p.m. Monday, according to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System.

According to the HRTS, 89% of area ICU and 91% of area acute care beds were in use.

About 15% of patients in area ICU beds were COVID-positive (52) or suspected of having the coronavirus (6). About 5% of patients in area acute care beds were either COVID-positive (109) or suspected of having the coronavirus (20).

And 43 area ICU and 205 area acute care beds were available.

Bed capacity is calculated by subtracting beds occupied by patients, unstaffed beds and beds that are otherwise unavailable.

The capacity figures are inclusive of all hospital facilities in Shelby, Tipton and Lauderdale counties in Tennessee as well as facilities in Crittenden County, Arkansas, and DeSoto County, Mississippi.


Coronavirus: 131 new cases and 1 new death


The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.

As of Monday, March 15, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total is 792,795 cases, including 11,638 deaths, 653 current hospitalizations and 768,631 inactive cases (recoveries).

About 6,996,960 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
