Coronavirus: Eight deaths and 258 new cases reported in Shelby County
The Shelby County Health Department reported 258 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and eight related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
Those new cases are from 1,940 new tests and reflect a 13.3% positivity rate. There are to date 46,210 total cases in the county and 645 COVID-19 related deaths.
As of 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, the Health Department reported that 89% of the area’s acute care hospital beds were occupied and that 14% were with coronavirus cases.
In addition, 89% of hospital intensive care unit beds are occupied and 31% were COVID-positive patients.
In total, there have been 644,462 coronavirus tests in the county.
On Monday, the Health Departments Directive 15 went into effect, which placed more restrictions on business.
In Tennessee, as of Tuesday, Nov. 24, there have been 345,854 confirmed cases, 4,374 deaths and 11,717 hospitalizations. However, 303,234 people have recovered.
