Coronavirus: Local numbers climbing again

According to the latest Shelby County Health Department data, 113,793 people in Shelby County have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose; 50,679 people have received both COVID-19 vaccine doses, meaning they are fully vaccinated.

And 164,472 total doses have been administered in Shelby County.

At the present time, the Shelby County Health Department will move into Phase 1C of the Tennessee COVID-19 Vaccination Plan on Monday, March 8.

This phase includes residents who are 16 years old or older with health conditions that put them at risk of serious illness from COVID-19. For all other individuals, the age eligibility will remain age 65 and older.

The Shelby County Health Department reported 178 new coronavirus cases and six new coronavirus-related deaths on Friday.

Those 178 cases come from 3,410 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 5%.


Coronavirus: Shelby County set for phase 1c


Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 88,521 cases, including 85,702 inactive cases (recoveries), 1,302 active cases and 1,517 deaths.

Shelby County Health Department releases a daily chart of the Human Resource Tracking System (HRTS). Data for Friday, March 5 will be added to the Saturday update.

The capacity figures are inclusive of all hospital facilities in Shelby, Tipton and Lauderdale counties in Tennessee as well as facilities in Crittenden County, Arkansas, and DeSoto County, Mississippi.

The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.


Shelby County likely through worst of pandemic, health official says


As of Friday, March 5, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total is 780,894 cases, including 11,534 deaths, 821 current hospitalizations and 768, 539 inactive cases (recoveries).

About 6,856,581 coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
