Bartlett City Schools (BCS) Superintendent David Stephens will lead the district for at least the next four years under a contract extension approved by the suburb’s school board.
The BCS board approved the extension at a special-called meeting earlier this month. The new agreement runs through the end of the 2028-29 school year.
His current contract was set to end on June 30.
“He’s done a great job for us,” David Cook, the chairman of the Board of Education, said. Cook has sat on the board since the district’s inception 11 years ago.
“I can’t imagine us being nearly as successful if he had not been at the helm,” Cook said of Stephens.
