More than 41,000 cast ballots in first two days of early voting

More than 41,000 Shelby County voters cast ballots through the second day of the early voting period.

The totals from the Shelby County Election Commission through Thursday, Oct. 17, show 41,301 people voted early or absentee across the first two days of the period that ends Oct. 31.

That compares to 62,324 in the first two days of the period four years ago in the presidential general election cycle.

The two-day total in 2016 was 31,543 votes; that number was 29,874 in 2012 and 48,326 in 2008.

The top voting location remained New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Germantown, followed by Harmony Church in Bartlett.
