Youth Villages board chair urged DA to not prosecute staffers

The Shelby County District Attorney’s office recently confirmed it had dropped the criminal cases against four Youth Villages staffers in the death of 17-year-old resident in 2023.

Prior to the employees’ indictments being rescinded, Youth Villages Board Chair Mike Bruns sent a letter to Shelby County District Attorney General Steve Mulroy asking him not to pursue prosecution against the organization’s employees who were initially charged in the death of Alegend Jones.
