Conaway: Katz and Wright, therapy for the moment
Dan Conaway
Dan Conaway is a lifelong Memphian, fascinated and frustrated with his city, but still in love. A columnist since 2010, his distinguished advertising career has branded ribs in the Rendezvous and ducks in The Peabody, pandas in the zoo and Grizzlies in the NBA. Stories in Memphis tend to write themselves. He’s helped a few along. Two book collections of his columns have been published.
So, we’re voting, and the outcome may end the world, or not. So, we’re voting, and just reading the news this morning put me in such a dark mood, I had to consult my therapists.
I have two. Perhaps they will be of some help to you.
The first is my late friend, Gene Katz, who I miss almost daily. I’ve saved many of the priceless gems of wisdom Gene sent me throughout the years and shared many with you.
Conaway: This ballot ‘triggers’ memories but also possibilities
The second of my therapists is deadpan comedian and sage Stephen Wright, whose rare perspective I’ve found to be helpful when reality is becoming particularly bothersome. I’ve shared that perspective as well.
So, here’s a curated list. Pour yourself a cup of coffee and consider. But be careful. You’re about to spit it out.
Warning: If you don’t have a sense of humor, proceed with caution.
