Bruce Elementary principal has a hit with ‘Bedtime Stories’

Archie Moss

Archie M. Moss Jr. is principal at Bruce Elementary School. He taught 6th and 7th grade math as a Teach For America Charlotte Corps member. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he received his master's degree in Middle Grades Education, he founded The Gentlemen’s League, an all-male mentorship program, and the Shelby County Schools' Elementary Basketball League. He is the youngest SCS principal.

Some students do not enjoy reading. I was one of those students growing up. I did not enjoy reading because I did not see myself in the books we had to read in school. It was important for me to select books that my students can relate to, and most importantly see themselves in.
