When he was 16, Seth Rider told his family he wanted to be an Olympian. It was an audacious thing to say. But that kid from Germantown now has a silver medal around his neck. 

He directed the FedEx St. Jude Classic golf tournament for 13 years, starting in 1986 overseeing its move from Colonial Country Club to TPC Southwind. In 2000, St. Jude made him its first director of sports marketing, hoping to reinvigorate the flagging marathon. He died Aug. 5 at age 76.
