Recently-crowned world No. 1 Jon Rahm heads a stellar list of players who have committed to play in next week’s World Golf Championship-FedEx St. Jude Invitational.
With Rahm in the fold, Memphis will host the top eight players in the world for the event which starts July 30.
Joining Rahm on the commitment list Tuesday, July 21, are second-ranked Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas, who is No. 3.
Previously announced competitors are Dustin Johnson, Webb Simpson, defending tournament champion Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Reed, who rank 4-8 respectively.
Rahm climbed into the top spot after winning the Memorial in Dublin, Ohio, last week, his fourth career victory. The win also vaulted the 25-year-old Spaniard into the eighth spot in the FedEx Cup standings.
McIlroy has six top-fives in 10 starts this year, including a victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai. Thomas currently leads the FedEx Cup standings and has two victories this year and six additional top-10s.
No. 11 Xander Schauffle has also committed.
