Memphis, FESJC are special to Joe Tomek. Which is why leaving is tough

When asked how much he had previously known about the country that will be his home for at least the next few years, Joe Tomek raised a clenched fist to indicate a great big zero.

But he’s quickly learning that Australia is a lot different from Memphis. Even the summertime heat.

“I had already agreed to the position before I stepped foot in the country,” said Tomek, who is stepping down as executive director of the FedEx St. Jude Championship and will soon begin a new adventure Down Under.
