MURFREESBORO — Rain earlier in the week pushed the Division 1 baseball games at Spring Fling back to Saturday. Lakeland Prep and Munford will be more than happy to stick around.

The Lions advanced to the Class AA championship game Friday with a 9-3 victory against Forrest, keeping their remarkable season alive. Coach Chris Godwin’s squad improved to 29-3 and will play for the title in its first trip to the state tournament.

Moreover, it’s a team without any seniors and is still a relatively new program. Lakeland Prep opened in 2022 and has yet to graduate its first senior class.
