Buckley: This season’s Tigers ‘really love each other.’ What a refreshing change.

Tim is a veteran sportswriter who graduated from CBHS in Memphis and the University of Missouri. He previously covered LSU sports in Baton Rouge, and the University of Louisiana football and basketball for The Daily Advertiser/USA TODAY Network in Lafayette, the NBA’s Utah Jazz for the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning for the St. Petersburg Times in Florida, and West Texas State basketball for the Amarillo Globe News in Texas.

“These guys,” coach Penny Hardaway said of all his current Tigers, “really love each other and they enjoy being around each other.

“They’re so close that they’re gonna figure out a way to work through it.”

With everyone doing their part, Memphis worked itself out of a pickle Saturday against the East Carolina Pirates.

Last season’s Tigers, because of their nature, might not have been so fortunate.
