Welcome back to the Tigers Football Insider, where we bring you the latest news and analysis from The Daily Memphian’s Frank Bonner II, Geoff Calkins and John Martin each week.

Cal transfer Ryan Glover has just one year of eligibility left, so it was important to him that he picked a school that was built to win now after entering the portal.

“The first thing I wanted to do was win,” Glover said. “Obviously, I have one year left so a rebuilding year wouldn’t really make sense for me to walk into. And then two, just the opportunity to play and I thought after talking to the coaching staff I’ll have the opportunity to compete at Memphis.”

The Tigers have maintained a consistent culture of winning in the last eight or nine years and Glover has taken notice despite last season’s 6-6 record. Coach Ryan Silverfield and offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey left a strong impression on Glover, especially Cramsey’s track record with leading offenses.

“If you look at coach Cramsey’s resume in what he did at Marshall, he did spectacular things at Marshall,” Glover said. “Specifically grooming quarterbacks and getting them to the point where they’re winning stuff like All-Conference and having amazing stats. I think his offense works. It’s proven to work so I definitely have faith in him in that.”

Glover is joining an offense that looks to have a solidified starter in Seth Henigan who had a freshman All-American season last year. He expects to get to Memphis on Monday and said he is excited to get acclimated with the quarterback room.

“I think my main thing coming in is I’m going take everybody’s game to the next level,” Glover said. “Whether that’s competing, helping the guys out on the field. Basically adding value in any way I can to the team. So I think after I leave I know for a fact that every quarterback in that room will be a better quarterback from just being around me and I know I’ll be a better quarterback as well from the coaches and them.”
